To acquire some smallish, affordable, high quality works of art for your home or business, I thoroughly recommend attending Hawkes Bay's fifth RealPeople @ Mosaic Wine Box Action, July 30th 2010.
We have thoroughly enjoyed the fun, exciting, electric energy of the last few Wine Box Auctions. I love putting my hand up for an artistic winebox that has caught my eye and heart, upping the bids, causing personal financial chaos, much hilarity and sometimes, hanging in there so that I can take a wine box treasure home with me. It is a wonderful evening out and all for an extremely good cause. Ian's Riverside wines are divine and the six art labelled bottles you get with the artbox are a special treat. Our lives and conversations are enriched living with RealPeople @ Mosaic Winebox Art, complementing our art filled home.

Like many similar artspaces around the country, RealPeople @ Mosaic do great work. Based on work I’d seen in the past I was keen to ensure the RealPeople @ Mosaic artists were included in the long list for the 2010 Hawke's Bay Invitational, and I’m sure the selected works by Joleen Wilson and Nicholas Rodgers were among the crowd favourites. Their works added a distinctive dimension to the wider conversation the exhibition was about.

From the inception of the Realpeople @ Mosiac Wine Box Auction, my partner and I have enthusiastically supported and purchased interesting, quirky, imaginative 'wine boxes', some by significant NZ artists, and others that have shown a fine artistic sensibility by amateur artists. All give us great pleasure and are good for lively comment.
I cannot recommend highly enough this charitable event. Not only for the amazing arts-based programmes that RealPeople @ Mosaic run so successfully within the community, but for the great artworks made available with the support of fantastic artists.

This is my fifth year as an artist with the Winebox Auction and I am now familiar with an annual dilemma where I tell myself “I am too busy this year!” Somehow the lure of the winebox always wins out. Maybe it’s the challenge of turning a plain wooden box into something special (and nothing like last year’s) that turns me on, or maybe it’s the buzz of getting a better price than last year. The truth is I just don’t like feeling that I’m missing out when everyone else is having fun. Then there’s always the fact that I love ‘outsider art’ and am really happy to help keep this wonderful facility ticking over. I suspect I will just keep on coming back.
