William Jamieson
William is a much respected metal working artist based at Cicada Workshops in Whakatu. He is sought out both by private collectors and for public commissions for his highly esteemed sculptures.
William’s numerous commissions for large-scale public sculptures can be seen throughout Hawke’s Bay and nationwide.
His most recent commission is a 6m steel sculpture at the entranceway to Clive. Jamieson says he found his inspiration at the heart of the township, "The original idea came from standing on the bridge and watching the row boats pass below me," he said. He also wanted to “acknowledge the Evers-Swindell girls who spent a lot of time training in Clive, that is why there are two rows of oars."
